I best introduce myself. Im Dan currently 25 and im from the uk. I have been a massive fan of mma now for about 3 years. Im going to be writing a piece twice a week for mmabadass about the uk mma scene. I know it's not as strong as the scene over the pond but it's alot stronger than we get credit for!
We all know what happened in TUF9 :)
So todays post is about 2 fighters in that series because both fighters are fighting at this weeks ufc118
Nick Osipczak and Andre Winner are two of the hottest talents to come from the British Isles in the last few years and that is saying something when we have the likes of Dan Hardy, Michael Bisping, Andre Winner, John Hathaway and Paul Sass.
Nick starred on the The Ultimate Fighter reality show where he showcased his skills before losing in the semi-finals, in a close war, to Damarques Johnson. Dana White called the scrap one of the best TUF fights in the history of the show. Nick comes from London and lists his style as Shaolin Kung Fu, he is 6ft 2 inches and fights at Welterweight. He is currently 5-1 in his career but in my eyes(and quite a few others), Nick should have been 6-0 after he was robbed against Rick Story at UFC 112
Winner was born in St. George's, Grenada to a British father and Afro-Caribbean mother, and moved to Leicester, England at seven years old. He started in sports during his high school years, competing in football and other athletics. Winner never thought of being a mixed martial artist but loved sports. He went to self-defense classes at Leicester Shootfighters and met Dan Hardy and Paul Daley. Hardy inspired Winner to give the sport a real try.
Winner tried out for the eighth season of the Ultimate Fighter at lightweight. He did not make the cut but tried out for the ninth season and made the show in which he reached the final and lost to close friend and teammate Ross Pearson.
Nick is fighting Greg Soto and Andre is fighting Nick Lentz
In Nick's fight v greg soto i do believe that the loser will get cut from the ufc. I cant see this being nick as i see his skill set is just too strong for Soto. But as we know with mma anyone can win! I would hate for slick nick to get cut because his last fight against story was no way a loss for him! The cecil Peoples curse struck again that night!
So onto Andre's fight v Nick Lentz. This is a typical striker v grappler fight. I can see lentz gameplan is gonna be takedowns and more takedowns. I really hope that andre has done his homework and is prepared for some takedown defence or sprawl and brawl as i like to say.

A random one
Good evening everyone.
Thought i better post something before i go to bed, so i actually get into a routine of blogging daily. So today im going to blog about what i think it takes to be a fighter.
I know this will have been done a million times already. But i believe everyones perceptions and opinions are different and need to be respected.
Anyone can be taught how to defend themelves with the use of different techniques and tactic's. But not everyone can be taught how to fight. I believe most mma fighters have this fire inside of them. Something that gets unleashed when they enter the octagon and the bell rings.
So fighters can control it and wait for the opening (dan hardy) where as others go in all guns blazing and get caught (chuck lidell)
With both of these fighters i havent seen them in a boring fight. They always look for the finish which as an mma fan we all love to see!
This is where i move onto mma fighters which i believe are very technically talented but dont have that fighters instinct inside. You have to look at how they win their fights but also what they look to do in those fights if it goes to a decision etc. Jon fitch no doubt he is 1 of the most talented fighters in the ufcs ww divison. All the fights i have seen of him have been 3 round boring im gonna take you down and do just enough for the win.
THIS IS WHY YOU HAVENT HAD A TITLE SHOT IN A WHILE JON.....DANA AND THE FANS FIND YOU BORING!!!
Now onto gray manard. I think he is also in this type of mould of mma fighters but i would love to be proven wrong by both of these fighters.
These are my opinions of these fighters from the fights i have seen them take part in so if they used to stnd and bang let me know and i will watch those fights.

This new blog.
Right i best introduce myself. Im Dan live in the city of Bristol ENGLAND (just for any american followers). I am a massive mma fan after one of my best friends introduced me to it round his 1 night. The event in question was ufc 89 which was Mike Bisping v Chris Leben.
I have been hooked ever since!
The main reason for this blog is that i dont see many uk fans blogging about the uk scene which is getting stronger by the day. This has been proved by TUF 9 and the amount of uk talent now fighting and training all over the world.
I will watch any mma event but i do love ufc the most. It is the best orginisation by far, most talented and one hell of business. But this doesnt mean that i dont go to local shows with local fighters. We have to support the grass roots mma fighters which thus improves every level up to the top.
Enough of me talking crap and going off subject (warning as i will do this alot)!!!
So back to the opening blog. I intend to blog daily. There may be times when i cant due to work, ladies or being hungover haha. I will always blog on a friday with any planned events in the uk. With the results coming on a monday.
If i got to any events expect a more in depth write up and photos.
The next mma event i am attending is Ultimate Impact 2. This event is run by trojan free fighters who have some of the best up and coming uk mma fighters including Ronnie Mann.
